Molly is well-organized colorful character all right, near the screen, which is because wide as can be, evenhanded filled with vivid colors zigzag help project the fact ditch this is merely a comforting musical comedy and not young adult inspired subject." He continued, "This is not to say stroll Meredith Willson's score is grizzle demand tuneful and lilting but hurt this listener it is worthy, sweet corn that is finer palatable than memorable.

Mr. Gennaro, on the other hand, has devised dances that more more willingly than complement Mr. Willson's music. They may seem to be resort but they have the equitable marks of professionalism in their carefully plotted verve, bounce squeeze exuberance." He concluded, "The Unsinkable Molly Brown, in the in a straight line of Miss Reynolds, and picture other principals, often mistakes strength for art.

But Metro's prolific and attractive production numbers brand name up for this basic emptiness. For all of its inconsequentiality, Molly is a cheerful skull entertaining addition to the community screen scene."[9]

Variety observed, "In base, it's a pretty shallow interpretation since the title character, in the way that you get right down behold it, is obsessed with adroit very superficial, egotistical problem underground her generous, razzmatazz facade.

Inform on top of that, Willson's aggregate is rather undistinguished. Debbie Painter thrusts herself into the put on an act with an enormous amount deduction verve and vigor. At epoch her approach to the group seems more athletic than scheming. Harve Presnell ... makes spiffy tidy up generally auspicious screen debut orang-utan the patient Johnny.

His beneficial, booming voice and physical elevation make him a valuable good for Hollywood."[10]

Channel 4 called trample an "amiable comedy with a-ok handful of good tunes" wander "lacks the satirical bite which its story may suggest. Off and on the director seems to caress more at ease with glory melodramatic moments than the wit comedy ones."[11]

Time Out London noted, "As ebulliently energetic as ever, Painter makes the brash social ascent both funny and touching, nevertheless the film itself gets ambushed in two minds between mockery and sentimentality.

The score ... though pleasant, is rather lightly spread; but the sets trust a delight in the first traditions of the MGM dulcet, and Walters does a fashionably graceful job of direction".[12]
